Thiruvananthapuram : Creating a new chapter in the KSRTC’s bus fleet , the new Volvo 9600 SLX series bus conducted a test drive in Thiruvananthapuram today. Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar flagged off the bus.
Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar said that it is a matter of pride that KSRTC, as a transport corporation, is the first to book and take delivery of this newly manufactured model by Volvo in India. Although private individuals may have purchased this vehicle , it is noteworthy that KSRTC is the first transport corporation to book and take delivery. It has technology to stop the vehicle by sudden braking if the vehicle tilts above a certain angle. The driver gets a seat with excellent suspension. In addition , there is a lifting facility to lift the bus when it goes into holes or cutters (the speed will be limited to 20 kmph) and other technologies including cameras are available.
The Minister released a book detailing the achievements and reforms made by KSRTC in the last two years. The book includes information on the design of new bus stations , use of digital technologies , and becoming part of a waste-free Kerala.
